From Mbari to Igwe bu Ike: Communality & Igbo Art by Iheanyi Onwuegbucha. Tribute to Bisi Silva

Iheanyi Onwuegbucha is a director at Centre for Contemporary Art (CCA), Lagos. He gave a talk titled From Mbari to Igwe bu Ike: Communality and Igbo Art, at the 8th Annual International Igbo Conference at University College London and SOAS, University of London on 12-13 April 2019. Dr Ike Anya’s talk was titled “Obu in Abiriba Society : Home of Art, Justice, Lawmaking and Spirituality ”

The theme of the 8th Igbo conference was “The Igbo Arts and Its Intersections: Politics, Spirituality and Justice”.

The 8th Igbo conference explored ‘traditional’ ideas of the arts and its role in everyday life in Igbo communities both in past and present times, and at ‘home’ and ‘abroad’.
